Dr. Shafiqul Islam presented “A negotiated approach to managing complex water issues” at the Water Security and Peace Conference, organized by the Water Diplomacy Consortium (WDC) on November 14th, 2013 at the Hague, Netherlands.
The conference presented and discussed the role of negotiation, mediation and conciliation in evidence-based cases of water diplomacy. Participants included relevant water experts, water diplomats and policy makers as well as political leaders in dealing with water-related disputes, from different levels and different organizations (governments, international organizations, NGOs), and leading scientists from various disciplines.
Dr. Islam’s talk discussed some the challenges and opportunities for both conceptualizing and operationalizing complex water resource management. Video of his talk is available on YouTube.
